World's Largest Semiconductor Conference 'ISCAS 2029' to Be Held in Incheon

The International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS 2029), the world's largest international academic conference in the semiconductor field, will be held in Songdo, Incheon in May 2029.

On June 17, the Incheon Metropolitan Government and the Incheon Tourism Organization announced that the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS), a society under the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has selected Incheon as the host city for ISCAS 2029.

ISCAS 2029 is a world-class international conference that will bring together more than 1,500 experts in circuits, systems, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors from around the globe. Notably, this event will be co-chaired by Professor Sunwoo Myounghoon (Ajou University), the first Korean president in the 76-year history of IEEE CASS, and Vice President Professor Lee Hanho (Inha University), adding further significance to the event.

Since 2023, Incheon has been laying the groundwork to host ISCAS 2029 by maintaining ongoing exchanges with the society. In March, the city submitted its initial letter of intent to host the event, and, in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization, launched the "ISCAS Korea Hosting Committee," which began drafting a joint proposal and implementing customized hosting marketing strategies.

The final bid took place on May 25 in London, United Kingdom, during ISCAS 2025. At this event, Professor Lee presented a video message of support from Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeongbok, and highlighted Songdo's outstanding MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) infrastructure, international accessibility, and abundant tourism resources, showcasing Incheon's competitiveness as a host city.

Incheon was selected as the final host city for ISCAS 2029, receiving a total of six votes, surpassing Cartagena, Colombia (three votes), and Tampere, Finland (one vote). The ISCAS 2029 selection committee officially announced, "Incheon is a city with excellent accessibility and a strong industrial and academic foundation," and highly praised the quality of its MICE infrastructure and operational plans.

Baek Hyun, president of the Incheon Tourism Organization, stated, "Hosting ISCAS 2029 is expected to generate an economic impact of 5.4 billion won for the local economy," and added, "Based on our proven MICE infrastructure and accumulated experience in hosting international events, we promise the successful hosting of ISCAS 2029."
