Support for Firefighters' Medical Expenses and Scholarships for Their Families Planned
Over 3,700 Firefighters and Families Supported with Approximately 10.8 Billion Won Over 20 Years
S-OIL (CEO: Anwar Al Hejazi) delivered 565 million won in sponsorship funds for the Firefighting Hero Keeper program on June 16 at Hotel Naru in Mapo-gu, Seoul, in collaboration with the National Fire Agency and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.
The sponsorship funds provided by S-OIL will be used this year for a variety of Firefighting Hero Keeper programs, including covering medical expenses for firefighters injured in the line of duty, providing scholarships for the children of fallen firefighters, and awarding prizes to firefighting heroes.
S-OIL launched the Firefighting Hero Keeper program in 2006 and has continuously supported firefighters and their families, who protect the safety and lives of people in Korea, for 20 years.
At the sponsorship ceremony, S-OIL, together with the National Fire Agency and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare, pledged to ensure the continued development of the Firefighting Hero Keeper program in celebration of its 20th anniversary.
Additionally, as a new initiative, S-OIL decided to select and award the 'S-OIL 119 Master Saver' each year. This year, 32 paramedics who minimized disabilities through emergency care were chosen and honored at the 'S-OIL 119 Master Saver of the Year' awards ceremony.
For the past 20 years, S-OIL has implemented various programs under the Firefighting Hero Keeper initiative, including the Firefighting Hero of the Year award, consolation payments to the families of fallen firefighters, scholarships for the children of fallen firefighters, medical expense support for injured firefighters, and rest camps for firefighter couples. Through these efforts, S-OIL has supported approximately 3,700 firefighters and their families with a total of about 10.8 billion won. In recognition of these contributions, S-OIL received the Volunteer Award at the 29th KBS 119 Awards last year, and CEO Al Hejazi was appointed as an honorary firefighter.
S-OIL CEO Al Hejazi stated, "I am always grateful for the sacrifice and courage of firefighters who risk their lives at the scenes of fires and accidents," and added, "I feel proud of the 20th anniversary of the S-OIL Firefighting Hero Keeper program, and we will continue to support firefighters in the future."
