Gongju to Host Yugu Textile Festival... Fashion Shows and Interactive Performances Abound

A cultural festival combining textiles and fashion will be held in Yugueup, Gongju, Chungnam, a region renowned for its textile industry.

On June 16, the city of Gongju announced that the "2025 Yugu Textile Festival" will take place at the Korea Textile Smart Process Research Institute over two days, from June 20 to 21.

This year's festival, themed "Waves of Textiles, Coloring Yugu," will offer a variety of programs where visitors can experience both the traditions and advanced technologies of the local textile industry.

In addition, the "Yugu Textile Fashion Show" will feature not only textile products made by small manufacturers from the Gongju area, but also award-winning works from the 2025 Fashion Apparel Product Contest and creations by students from the Department of Fashion Product Studies at Gongju University, showcasing the technical prowess and design of Yugu textiles.

On the first day of the festival, June 20, there will be hands-on programs and stage performances in which citizens can directly participate. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., followed by a celebratory performance by the invited singer Wooyeon, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.

On June 21, the festivities will continue with a singing contest final open to both local residents and tourists, as well as performances by popular artists Reewon and Littleboy, promising even more enjoyment.

Choi Taeil, Chairperson of the Yugu Textile Festival Organizing Committee, stated, "This festival marks the beginning of Yugu's transformation from a traditional textile city into a future-oriented region embracing culture and fashion," adding, "We hope it becomes a venue for harmony where industry, culture, residents, and visitors come together."

Meanwhile, the city of Gongju plans to use the Yugu Textile Festival to widely promote the value and future potential of the local textile industry, and to present a sustainable festival model that integrates industry and culture.
