Yangcheon District to Recruit 50 Youth Administrative Interns... Administration, Welfare, and Mentoring Opportunities

Recruitment of Unemployed Youth Aged 19 to 29 Open Until June 27

Yangcheon District in Seoul is recruiting 50 "2025 Second Half Youth Administrative Interns" to provide young people with opportunities to gain administrative experience in public institutions and explore potential career paths.


The application period runs until June 27. Eligible applicants are unemployed district residents aged 19 to 29. For discharged military personnel, the upper age limit is extended by up to three years, corresponding to the length of their service. Those who participated in this program within the past year are not eligible to apply.

This administrative internship is divided into two categories: "General" and "Specialized." The General category will select 20 interns to assist with civil service tasks and support institutional operations at local community centers, libraries, and similar facilities. The Specialized category will select a total of 30 interns?10 each for three areas: "Administration," which supports administrative work at the district office and related institutions; "Welfare," which assists socially disadvantaged groups; and "Learning Mentor," which provides tailored academic guidance to elementary and middle school students.


The internship period is from July 21 to August 15, with working hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., five days a week. Applications can be submitted online via the district office website. Final selection for the General category will be made through a computerized lottery, while the Specialized category will first select twice the number of candidates through a lottery, followed by an evaluation process to determine the final interns.


Since last year, Yangcheon District has divided the program into General and Specialized categories and expanded eligibility from university students to all unemployed youth. The newly established Learning Mentor section has especially increased the program's effectiveness. According to a recent survey, the program achieved an overall satisfaction rate of 94% and a 90% positive change in perception of public institutions?a 16 percentage point increase from the previous year. All administrative interns will also have access to a variety of special programs, including tours of major facilities, discussion assignments, and meetings.


Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, "I hope this administrative internship experience will provide valuable opportunities for young people who are facing various concerns about employment preparation and career choices to build experience and capabilities." He added, "We will continue to implement effective policies so that young people can participate in policymaking in diverse ways and fully demonstrate their capabilities."
