Securing Top AI Talent and Encouraging Reshoring of Domestic Experts
LG Electronics has attended the world's largest AI conference to attract top artificial intelligence (AI) talent.
On June 16, LG Electronics announced that it held an AI talent recruitment event at the International Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) 2025, which took place from the 11th to the 15th (local time) in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. CVPR is the world’s most prestigious conference focused on computer vision, a field often referred to as the "eyes of AI."
Jaechul Kim, Senior Vice President of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute at LG Electronics and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), is explaining about LG Electronics at the International Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) 2025 held from the 11th to the 15th (local time) in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Jaechul Kim, Senior Vice President and Head of the Vision Intelligence Lab at the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute under the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) division, led networking efforts at the conference. In addition to holding individual meetings with authors of papers closely related to LG Electronics’ business areas, he also organized the "LGE AI Night" event to introduce the company’s AI technologies and achievements. At "LGE AI Night," LG Electronics presented its technological capabilities and development roadmap in the field of vision AI, focusing on current research and development projects as well as papers previously introduced at international conferences.
Several researchers who attended the event shared their impressions, saying, "It was great to hear about real-world cases of AI applications in industry, which are usually hard to come by," and "It was appealing to see how research could potentially impact products and services that directly reach customers at LG Electronics."
Since 2022, LG Electronics has participated in CVPR every year, organizing networking events to secure talent, and has continuously recruited outstanding AI professionals through CVPR over the past three years. In addition, at the end of this month, the company plans to hold the "North America Tech Conference," an overseas talent recruitment program, in New Jersey, USA.

Such recruitment events primarily invite master's and doctoral students and researchers majoring in AI at domestic universities, as well as Korean international students studying at leading overseas universities. LG Electronics evaluated that, from the company’s perspective, these events help secure tailored AI talent and, by encouraging the "reshoring" (return to Korea) of outstanding domestic science and engineering professionals, contribute to strengthening the national AI industry’s competitiveness.
Meanwhile, in Korea, LG Electronics is also working to secure future technology talent in AI, big data, and software by operating industry-linked departments and target labs in partnership with leading universities nationwide. Currently, industry-linked departments operated at five universities?Korea University, Sogang University, Yonsei University, POSTECH, and Hanyang University?are recruiting new students.
An LG Electronics official stated, "We will spare no effort in securing and nurturing top AI talent, which is the most important factor for future preparedness and strengthening business competitiveness."
