Driving Growth of Youth-led Companies Through Customized Support
The Dobong Youth Startup Center in Seoul's Dobong District has achieved remarkable results just one year after its opening, establishing itself as a key platform in the local startup ecosystem.
The district opened the center on the fourth floor of Seed Cube Chang-dong in May last year, with the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kwangwoon University managing its operations. Over the past year, the center has nurtured 28 youth-led companies, achieving a total revenue of 3 billion won, creating 57 new jobs, and attracting 800 million won in investment.

These achievements are largely attributed to the center's provision of not only startup spaces but also customized programs tailored to each stage of business growth. The center has operated various external collaboration programs, including accelerator programs for each tenant company, practical training in accounting, investment presentations (IR), and marketing, as well as global business matching and real-world IR pitching. By leveraging university-linked resources, the center has also strengthened management fundamentals such as legal and accounting support.
In a recent satisfaction survey, 75% of tenant companies reported experiencing product or service advancement, 62.5% reported network expansion, and 54.2% reported increased sales, confirming that substantial growth is taking place.
Dobong District is fostering a vibrant startup atmosphere in the region through a variety of community-linked programs, including the Dobong Youth Startup Idea Competition, supporter activities, participation in external exhibitions, and job fairs.
Dobong District Mayor Eunseok Oh stated, "We have confirmed that the center's customized programs and internal and external support are greatly contributing to the development of youth-led companies," adding, "Going forward, we will drive the substantial growth of these companies through comprehensive support across all stages, from commercialization and investment to market entry and collaboration."
This year, under the vision of "Start, Grow, and Settle in Dobong," the center plans to implement stage-specific support programs, including strengthening full-cycle support for commercialization, investment, market entry, and collaboration, enhancing mentoring, and establishing a scale-up zone for graduate companies.
