On June 15, Representative Jung Cheongrae of the Democratic Party of Korea announced his candidacy for the next party leader, declaring, "I will dedicate myself wholeheartedly to the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration."
That afternoon at the National Assembly, Representative Jung held a press conference and stated, "I will open an era of party member sovereignty that matches the era of national sovereignty."
He continued, "Three years ago, I dreamed of a Lee Jaemyung presidency and a Jung Cheongrae party leadership, but I postponed that dream. Instead, Lee Jaemyung became the party leader and I became a Supreme Council member, and together we had to fight against the ruthless 'Yoon Sukyeol prosecutorial dictatorship' administration. I stood at the forefront in resisting the Yoon Sukyeol administration's oppression of the opposition, elimination of political rivals, and efforts to bring down Lee Jaemyung. I also fought on the front lines with the people against the 12·3 martial law rebellion incident."
He added, "For the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration, I will act as one with President Lee as the Democratic Party leader. The fate of President Lee is the fate of Jung Cheongrae. Lee Jaemyung is Jung Cheongrae, and Jung Cheongrae is Lee Jaemyung."
Representative Jung emphasized, "The spirit of the times in this presidential election was ending the rebellion, changing the administration, and establishing a democratic government. The administration has changed, and the Lee Jaemyung democratic government has been established. Now, the remaining tasks of our era are the prompt conclusion of the rebellion and the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration."
