Kim Minhee Wins Grand Prize for 'The Face of Hahoe Mask and the Aesthetics of Korean Dance Lines'
At the 'Andong International Mask Dance Festival 2025 Poster Contest', hosted by Andong City in Gyeongbuk and the Korea Institute of Spiritual Culture, Kim Minhee's work titled 'The Face of Hahoe Mask and the Aesthetics of Korean Dance Lines' was selected as the grand prize winner.

This contest was held for about a month from February 20 to March 21, with the aim of visually expressing the festival's core theme, 'Dancing Masks: In Search of Diverse Faces.' The event drew significant attention, with a total of 164 entries submitted from across the country.
The judging panel, composed of experts in design and festival-related fields, conducted a comprehensive evaluation based on artistic quality, thematic delivery, and practical applicability.
As a result, a total of six works were selected as winners: one grand prize, one first prize, two excellence awards, and two encouragement awards.
The grand prize-winning work by Kim Minhee, 'The Face of Hahoe Mask and the Aesthetics of Korean Dance Lines,' was praised for skillfully capturing the festival's identity and Korean aesthetics through the use of radially arranged mask images and the dynamic lines of traditional dance.
The first prize was awarded to Jeong Bugun for the entry 'A Burst of Festive Spirit!' The excellence awards went to Song Gihun's 'Dancing Masks: In Search of Diverse Faces' and Lee Haeseul's 'Festival of Faces, Flames of Dance,' respectively.
For the encouragement awards, two recipients were selected. All winners will receive a certificate and prize money as follows: grand prize 2 million won, first prize 1 million won, excellence award 500,000 won, and encouragement award 200,000 won.
An official from Andong City stated, "We are grateful to all participants for creatively expressing the festival's identity and aesthetics," and added, "The winning works will undergo further refinement and be produced as the official posters for the 'Andong International Mask Dance Festival 2025,' which will be actively used in nationwide promotional efforts."
The Andong International Mask Dance Festival 2025 will be held over ten days from September 26 to October 5 at the Andong Mask Dance Park. Centered around 'Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori,' which is recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the festival will feature a global cultural celebration that brings together traditional mask dances from Korea and abroad with contemporary performance content.
