Shinsegae Department Store Holds Chodang Corn Special Exhibition... Discount Coupons Available on App

On June 15, Shinsegae Department Store announced that it will hold a special exhibition for Chodang corn, which is in season, through its application (app).

Starting at 8:00 p.m. on June 16, customers can download special coupons for Chodang corn and glutinous corn through the Shinsegae Department Store app, limited to one coupon per person. Afterwards, customers can purchase Chodang corn (3 pieces) and glutinous corn (3 pieces) for 3,800 won each using any of five Shinsegae partner cards (Citi, Samsung, Shinhan, Hana, BC Baro). During the same period, freshly steamed and delicious Chodang corn will also be available at the Rice Mill in the Gangnam branch.

Each store will also introduce desserts made with Chodang corn. Representative items include Noted's Chodang Corn Cream Donut (one piece) for 4,800 won, Sweetickles' Chodang Corn Macaron (one piece) for 4,500 won, and Brauter's Corn Cream Cheese Pretzel Bagel (one piece) for 6,500 won. In addition, pop-up stores for "Gomori Corn Bread" will be held at the Gangnam branch, Gwangju Shinsegae, and Shinsegae South City, selling glutinous corn bread.

The "Season and Table" menu on the Shinsegae Department Store app also offers a variety of content related to Chodang corn. The content covers detailed topics such as the history of Chodang corn, the background of its introduction to Korea, the journey from Uiryeong in Gyeongsangnam-do?the country's largest production region?to Shinsegae Department Store, misunderstandings caused by its high sugar content, characteristics and storage methods for each part, and preparation tips.

Customers can also find recipes such as "Esquites Salad" with Chodang corn, suggested by Michelin one-star chef Jin Woobeom, who specializes in Mexican cuisine, as well as rice pot and fried recipes featuring Chodang corn as the main ingredient by culinary researcher Yona.
