Yumious Active Prescription Spreads Across Major Hospitals Nationwide
Recognized Non-Reimbursed Approval by HIRA in October Last Year
The prescription of Yumious Bio's hip fracture treatment and prevention medical device, "Yumious Active," which received recognized non-reimbursed approval from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) in October last year, is spreading across major hospitals.
On June 13, at a restaurant in Songpa-gu, Seoul, Yumious Bio CEO Yoo Changkon held a press conference and stated, "The code generation for Yumious Active, a prescription-dedicated medical device for hip compression, fixation, dislocation prevention, and fracture prevention, has been completed at major hospitals nationwide," adding, "Prescriptions are now being actively issued in clinical settings."
The recognized non-reimbursed approval by HIRA is a system in which certain medical procedures or treatment materials, which are generally classified as non-reimbursed under the national health insurance, can have part of their costs recognized if they meet specific criteria.
According to Yumious Bio, prescription codes have now been generated at Seoul National University Hospital, Sinchon Severance Hospital, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, Incheon St. Mary's Hospital, Korea University Anam Hospital, Korea University Guro Hospital, Kyung Hee University Hospital, Chung-Ang University Hospital, and other general hospitals.
CEO Yoo especially expressed expectations that the product will benefit elderly patients with mobility impairments such as existing stroke, dementia, Parkinson's disease, hemiplegia, as well as those undergoing rehabilitation or gait training, who are at constant risk of falling or experiencing accidents.
He also shared a case of product use, saying, "A patient classified as high risk for fractures due to osteoporosis was prescribed Yumious Active for fracture prevention. While wearing the device, the patient fell on the street and was greatly startled, but fortunately, did not suffer a hip fracture."
Meanwhile, Yumious Active, a prescription-dedicated medical device for hip compression, fixation, dislocation prevention, and fracture prevention, is available in a total of four types, including belt-type and panty-type models.
