Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on June 13 that, with the arrival of the summer season, it will operate its 2025 water play facilities on a trial basis for two days starting June 14, and then officially from June 17 to August 17. This initiative aims to provide citizens with a cool and safe leisure experience in the heart of the city.
The facilities will operate from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Each hour, the facilities will run for 50 minutes and then close for a 10-minute break. The facilities will be closed every Monday and during rainy weather.
This year, a total of 11 sites will be available, including six Balmun Playgrounds (Goeup 2nd Children's Park, Nari Neighborhood Park, Deokgye Neighborhood Park, Bongu Neighborhood Park, Seondol Park, and Osan Sandeul Neighborhood Park) and five fountain-type facilities. Most of these facilities are located within urban parks, making them easily accessible and popular summer destinations for families.
Notably, this year the Balmun Playground in Deokgye Neighborhood Park has been newly renovated. The city is taking thorough safety measures by conducting facility inspections and cleaning both before and after operation through professional companies, and by replacing the water once daily to maintain water quality.
A Yangju City official stated, "We will rigorously manage water quality and safety to ensure that everyone can enjoy these water play areas with peace of mind during the hot summer," adding, "We hope children and families will have a cool and pleasant summer in the city."
