The Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office announced on June 13 that it held the second part of the veterans experience event, "Bobo K.I.D.S Camp," with students from Daechon Jungang Elementary School and the growing future generation in celebration of the Month of Patriots and Veterans in June.
The event, which took place in the Jungoe Park area where the Gwangju-Jeonnam Student Patriots Memorial Tower is located, included visits and tributes to local memorial facilities (Gwangju-Jeonnam Student Patriots Memorial Tower, the statue and memorial of Ahn Jung-geun, and the Gwangju March 1st Independence Movement Memorial Tower), a tour and tribute at the May 18th Democratic Cemetery, a national defense-themed OX quiz activity, and hands-on activities such as making educational materials related to the memorial facilities.
Students who participated in the event said, "Through this hands-on veterans event, we were able to better understand the meaning of the Month of Patriots and Veterans," and added, "We will remember and be grateful to the national heroes who dedicated themselves to protecting our country."
Commissioner Kim Seokki stated, "We will continue to share the value of veterans affairs, and all staff at the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office will work together to realize veterans affairs that are alive in our daily lives and accessible to everyone."
Meanwhile, the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office is holding the "Bobo K.I.D.S" series of veterans experience events with the growing future generation during the Month of Patriots and Veterans. "Bobo K.I.D.S" is the office's own name for youth veterans events, and stands for "Korean Inspiring Dream & Spirit," reflecting the aim to inspire the dreams and spirit of the Korean people.
