According to local media outlets such as The Jerusalem Post and The Times of Israel, Iran launched a counterattack against Israel, which had carried out a preemptive airstrike in the early hours of the 13th (local time), by firing more than 100 drones toward Israel.

A spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated at a press conference that morning that "Iran has launched more than 100 drones toward Israel."

He also reported that "around 200 Israeli military aircraft attacked more than 100 targets inside Iran, using over 330 munitions."

In the early hours of the day, the Israeli military conducted a large-scale airstrike targeting the Natanz nuclear facility in central Iran, as well as Iranian military commanders and scientists. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran declared, "We are prepared to respond decisively and harshly to the aggression of the Zionist enemy," announcing its intention to retaliate.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in a video address, "The current operational objective is to strike Iran's nuclear infrastructure, ballistic missile factories, and military capabilities," adding, "We will continue the operation for as long as necessary."
