Integrated Management of Local Apple Distribution for Three Years
Strengthening Distribution Competitiveness Expected
On June 13, Yeongju City held a signing ceremony in the second conference room at City Hall, officially selecting Daegyeong Apple Horticultural Cooperative (headed by Seo Byeongjin) as the private consignment operator of the Yeongju City Base Mountain Distribution Center (APC) located on Sobaek-ro in Bonghyeon-myeon, and entered into a consignment agreement.

The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Lee Jaehun, Cooperative President Seo Byeongjin, and officials from related organizations, who shared their perspectives on future operational directions and cooperation plans.
The selection of the operating institution was conducted through an open recruitment process. Daegyeong Apple Horticultural Cooperative was ultimately chosen after a rigorous evaluation of operational performance, distribution expertise, and business execution plans. The consignment period is three years.
During this period, Daegyeong Apple Horticultural Cooperative will oversee the entire process of Yeongju apple distribution?including purchasing, sorting, packaging, distribution, and marketing?through integrated management at the Base Mountain Distribution Center.
Since its opening in 2007, the Yeongju City Base Mountain Distribution Center has maintained steady growth, recording sales of KRW 53 billion in 2023 and KRW 48 billion in 2024.
In the national management evaluation of fruit Base Mountain Distribution Centers (APC), the center ranked fifth in 2023 and fourth in 2024, earning recognition for its operational achievements and establishing itself as a benchmarking site for local governments and agricultural institutions nationwide.
Daegyeong Apple Horticultural Cooperative was also selected in 2025 for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' support project for the construction of fruit Base Mountain Distribution Centers. The cooperative plans to build a new distribution center in Sunheung-myeon, Yeongju City. Through synergy with existing distribution infrastructure, the brand value and market competitiveness of Yeongju apples are expected to be further enhanced.
Seo Byeongjin, president of the cooperative, stated, "We will operate the distribution center with a strong sense of responsibility for the development of local agriculture," and added, "We will strive to ensure that Yeongju apples become the top-quality brand nationwide."
Acting Mayor Lee Jaehun said, "I expect Daegyeong Apple Horticultural Cooperative to lead a new leap forward for the Base Mountain Distribution Center," and added, "We will continue to provide full support to increase farmers' incomes and revitalize the local economy."
Going forward, Yeongju City plans to accelerate institutional improvements and operational strategies to enhance the efficiency of agricultural product distribution and strengthen agricultural competitiveness.
