"177cm Tall, Slim Build, Leg Tattoo"... Police Distribute Wanted Poster for Stalking Murder Suspect

Suspect on the Run for Four Days Since Incident
Currently Believed to Be in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province
Police Considering Public Wanted Notice if Manhunt Prolongs

A man in his 40s, who murdered a woman in her 50s whom he had been stalking, has been missing for four days since fleeing the scene. Police have produced and distributed a wanted poster containing detailed information about the suspect's appearance in an effort to apprehend him. Authorities have also stated that they are considering issuing a public wanted notice if the suspect remains at large for an extended period.

According to the Seongseo Police Station in Daegu on June 13, the wanted poster includes the suspect, identified as Mr. A, along with his name, age, and physical characteristics. Mr. A is approximately 177 cm tall and has a slim build. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a light-colored shirt, jeans, and sneakers with a checkered pattern. He is also reported to have a tattoo on his leg. A police official stated, "There is a possibility that he may change clothes," and added, "We will guarantee the informant's anonymity and provide a reward for decisive information."

Mr. A is suspected of breaking into an apartment in Dalseo District, Daegu, at around 3:30 a.m. on June 10 and fatally stabbing Ms. B, a woman in her 50s. Police believe Mr. A climbed a gas pipe to enter Ms. B's apartment on the sixth floor before committing the crime. Afterwards, Mr. A fled Daegu and escaped to a wooded area in Bugang-myeon, Sejong City.

Mr. A, who had initially escaped to Sejong City, is now confirmed to be in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. Police captured footage of Mr. A moving up a mountain slope on CCTV installed in a wooded area in Cheongju. There is a reservoir midway up the mountain. Investigators are currently conducting a search around the reservoir area.

Police investigations revealed that about a month ago, Mr. A had also threatened Ms. B with a weapon. At that time, police were dispatched following a dispute between Mr. A and Ms. B, and Mr. A was arrested on charges of special intimidation (in violation of the Stalking Punishment Act). Prosecutors also determined that pretrial detention was necessary and requested a warrant, but the court rejected the request, citing that "Mr. A was cooperating properly with the investigation."
