Goryeong County Launches Full-Scale Effort to Attract Hotel and Resort Investments

Letters and Investment Proposals Sent to 34 Companies Nationwide
Goryeong County Pushes for Stay-Type Accommodation Development

Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province has officially begun efforts to attract stay-type accommodation facilities to expand its tourism infrastructure.

The county announced on June 13 that it has sent letters containing investment proposals and promotional materials to 34 hotel and resort investment companies across the country.

Goryeong County explained that since the Jisandong Tumuli was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in September 2023, and with the upcoming designation of Daegaya as an ancient capital in July, tourism demand has been rapidly increasing. As a result, the county has determined that there is a growing need for medium- and large-scale accommodation facilities. In response, it is promoting hotel and resort development projects, focusing on the Goari area of Daegaya-eup.

The letter includes information on Goryeong County's transportation and tourism infrastructure, business-friendly administrative support, and various incentive plans. The county emphasized specific locations and support measures to help investors confirm the region's development potential and foster genuine interest.

County Governor Lee Namcheol stated, "Goryeong County is establishing itself as a leading tourist city in Korea, recognized as the fifth ancient capital in the country and home to a UNESCO World Heritage site. We are also actively considering policies to promote stay-type tourism, such as nighttime programs and workation initiatives. We will spare no administrative and financial support to ensure that companies can invest and settle here with stability."
