K-DATA Selects 10 Companies Including Business Canvas for 'DataStars' Program

Supporting the Commercialization of Innovative Ideas Utilizing Data

The Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency (K-DATA) announced on June 13 that it has selected a total of 17 companies through its data-focused support programs, the 2025 DataStars (DATA-Stars) and DataGlobal (DATA-Global) initiatives.

DataStars is the only specialized data startup incubation program in Korea that supports the commercialization of innovative ideas utilizing data, and this year marks its twelfth anniversary.

The program offers specialized support in the data sector, including business development funding, business (VC) mentoring, data-focused consulting, and data infrastructure support. This year's application process recorded a high competition rate of 40:1.

After a multi-stage selection process, 10 companies, including Business Canvas, were ultimately chosen. The selected companies are expected to further strengthen their domestic and international business competitiveness through data utilization in diverse fields such as AI-powered K-Webtoon localization, legal assistant AI, sleep data analysis, and new drug data management.

Over the past 11 years, the DataStars support program has discovered 165 outstanding startups, including unicorn companies, through K-DATA's unique data business-focused support. It has also achieved remarkable results in key business development indicators, such as increased sales and successful private investment attraction for participating companies.

DataGlobal is a program designed to support localization and overseas expansion for leading domestic data companies with global capabilities, helping them establish a foundation for entering international markets.

This year, seven companies, including Moin Co., were selected from a highly competitive pool with a 16:1 ratio. They will receive up to 50 million KRW in government support over six months, as well as benefits such as overseas expansion consulting programs, participation in exhibition and business meetings, and support for connecting with relevant overseas organizations.

Yang Jaesoo, President of the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency, stated, "Data is the core asset of AI and digital industries and a strategic resource that determines national industrial competitiveness." He added, "The agency will provide unwavering support as a reliable partner so that this year's selected companies can grow into global data unicorns representing Korea."
