Consider the Feasibility of Securing Actual Buyers and Other Issues
The Jeonnam Provincial Assembly has raised concerns regarding the need for thorough management and countermeasures for the Jeonnam Eco-friendly Agricultural, Fisheries, and Livestock Distribution Center, which is currently in the process of being sold.
Jung Gilsu, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea, Muan 1), questioned the operational status and future sale plans of the 'Eco-friendly Distribution Center' during the Settlement Review of the Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Bureau at the 391st 1st Regular Session held on June 9, 2025, and called for thorough management and countermeasures.
The Eco-friendly Agricultural, Fisheries, and Livestock Distribution Center, built in Gaepo-dong, Seoul in 2012, shifted from the previous consignment management system to direct management by the province in 2024, and is currently undergoing procedures for the sale of public property.
Assembly member Jung emphasized, "In relation to the sale of the distribution center, it is time to consider not only the feasibility of securing actual buyers but also long-term utilization plans," and added, "Meticulous response and management are necessary to prevent financial losses for the province."
Regarding the issue of overdue rent for the distribution center, Jung pointed out, "There are cases of arrears, and this is not a problem that can be resolved simply by sending out bills," and requested, "While taking into account the circumstances of leasing companies facing business difficulties, more fundamental measures to prevent arrears must be established."
In response to these concerns, Jeonnam Province has promised effective management.
Park Hyunsik, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Bureau of Jeonnam Province, stated, "We are continuously monitoring real estate prices in Seoul, taking into account the validity period of the appraisal (one year)," and added, "We will take action in accordance with procedures and manage the process even more thoroughly."
