Yangsan City, Gyeongnam Province, announced that the 27th Yangsan Mayor's Cup Senior Gateball Tournament was successfully held on June 12 to mark the Month of Patriots and Veterans, aiming to promote the health and leisure of senior citizens.
This tournament, organized by the Yangsan City branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, was attended by key guests including Mayor Na Dongyeon, as well as city and provincial council members, who graced the event with their presence.
A total of approximately 220 senior athletes participated in the tournament, showcasing the skills they had honed over time and enjoying a meaningful occasion that fostered both competition and camaraderie. The venue was filled with lively cheers and laughter, and the participants shared valuable experiences that went beyond winning or losing, emphasizing togetherness.
Seo Chun-gye, head of the Senior Citizens Association, said, "I sincerely thank everyone who joined us despite their busy schedules," and added, "I would like to once again express my deep gratitude to Mayor Na Dongyeon and all officials for their generous support and interest."
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "I find it very meaningful that this event was held for the health and unity of our seniors during the Month of Patriots and Veterans," and added, "We will continue to provide a variety of programs and unwavering support so that our seniors can enjoy an active and happy later life."
After fierce competition, the honorable first place went to the Yangju A team, with the Habuk B team taking second place, and the Obong team finishing in third place.
Yangsan City plans to continue providing ongoing interest and support so that senior citizens can lead healthy and happy lives in their later years through events like this tournament.
