On the 11th, Yongin City hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Eastern Region Women's Welfare Center,' which will be built at 573-28, Mapyeong-dong, Cheoin-gu. The event was attended by Lee Sangil, the mayor, key officials from related organizations, and approximately 200 local residents.

The center will have two basement levels and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 13,703 square meters. It is scheduled for completion in July 2027. The project will cost a total of 63.2 billion won, including 60.7 billion won from the city budget. Yongin Urban Corporation is in charge of implementation, and Suhyeok General Construction will handle the construction.

The new center will house organizations related to women, families, and welfare, including the Healthy Family Support Center, Multicultural Family Support Center, Public Childcare Center, Etiquette Education Center, Foreigner Welfare Center, Women’s New Employment Center, and Disabled Family Support Center, providing a wide range of integrated services.

After the center is completed, the city plans to operate effective programs that reflect residents' opinions and develop it into a sustainable welfare model through public-private cooperation. In particular, the city aims to organically link the diverse functions of the resident organizations to respond to increasing demand for care services, support women's social participation and employment, and establish the center as an integrated service platform encompassing family welfare functions.

Mayor Lee stated, "Before the building is completed, we will open the space to the resident organizations and groups in advance to address any necessary improvements," adding, "We will make the welfare center a place for communication and empathy, as well as a space for culture, education, and welfare."
