Applications accepted until the 27th...
31 teams to be selected, including the Prime Minister's Award
Korea University of Technology and Education announced on June 11 that it is recruiting participants for the 'K-Digital Training Hackathon' until June 27.
The hackathon is a competition where developers, designers, and others form teams to develop services that fit a given theme within a limited time. The word 'hackathon' is a combination of 'hacking' and 'marathon'.
Eligible participants are trainees who are currently participating in or have completed the 'K-Digital Training' program, a vocational training initiative in advanced industries such as artificial intelligence.
Participants can choose between two categories: a designated task (developing digital social services for balanced regional development) or an open task (developing services utilizing digital technologies such as generative artificial intelligence).
Applications can be submitted through the website of the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training until 1 p.m. on the deadline day.
Korea University of Technology and Education plans to announce the participating teams and provide team mentoring starting next month, followed by the preliminary round in August, and the finals and award ceremony in September.
The total prize pool is 65.8 million won, with one team receiving the Prime Minister's Award (10 million won). In addition, 31 teams in total will be selected for awards such as the Minister of Employment and Labor Award, the President of Korea University of Technology and Education Award, and the President of the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training Award.
Lee Janghee, President of the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training, stated, "This hackathon is an opportunity for K-Digital Training trainees to solve social problems and gain experience in service implementation based on their digital technology capabilities. We will spare no effort in providing various support to help participants achieve excellent results."
