Boseong County Named Outstanding Institution in Jeollanam-do's Dasan Safety Awards Comprehensive Evaluation

Ranked First Among Counties... Proving Administrative Excellence in Disaster and Safety Management

Boseong County in Jeollanam-do announced on June 11 that it ranked third overall among cities and counties, and first among counties, in the 7th Dasan Safety Awards hosted by Jeollanam-do, thereby demonstrating excellent administrative capabilities in the fields of disaster and safety management.

The Dasan Safety Awards is Jeollanam-do’s representative safety evaluation system. It recognizes and awards institutions and individuals who have practiced proactive disaster prevention, active response, and people-centered public service spirit, as outlined in Dasan Jeong Yak-yong's "Mokminsimseo."

The awards are divided into three categories: cities and counties, institutions and organizations, and individuals. Winners are selected mainly based on their contributions to protecting the lives and property of residents through systematic crisis response management.

The first evaluation consisted of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s assessment results (70%) and safety culture campaign performance (30%). The second evaluation included a public review of best practices (10%). In total, the process involved fair written and on-site assessments across three areas.

Boseong County received balanced evaluations in all categories, including disaster management assessments, the Safe Korea Training, disaster prevention projects, and participation in safety governance. As a result, it ranked third among the 22 cities and counties in the province, and first among counties. The award includes a citation from the Governor of Jeollanam-do and a project grant of 70 million KRW.

The county has continuously implemented effective safety policies, such as pre-inspections of disaster-prone areas, expanding resident-participatory safety culture activities, and strengthening field-oriented disaster response systems.

Kim Cheol-woo, the county governor, stated, "This award is a valuable achievement made together with our residents," and added, "We will continue to establish effective disaster response systems that work in the field and pursue safety policies that residents can feel in their daily lives."
