Secured 160 Million Won in Special Grant from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju announced on June 11 that it was selected as the Best Institution among 226 cities, counties, and districts nationwide in the 2025 Disaster Management Evaluation organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and received the Prime Minister's Commendation.

The district received this award for the first time in three years, following its previous win in 2022. It was highly evaluated for its operation of a support team for bereaved families, disaster preparedness training, and a digital twin-based flood response system. This evaluation comprehensively assessed performance in five areas: general, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
As a result of being selected as the Best Institution, the district secured incentives including the Prime Minister's Commendation and a special grant of 160 million won.
