Visit to Mokpo Deokin Middle School... Morning Exercise with Students
Discussing Measures to Promote Sustainable Morning Physical Activities
Kim Daejung, Superintendent of Jeonnam Office of Education, has begun on-site inspections to strengthen the implementation of the "Gijigae" program, a Jeonnam-style morning physical activity initiative.
On June 11, the Jeonnam Office of Education announced that Superintendent Kim visited Mokpo Deokin Middle School to observe the operation of the Gijigae program and gathered opinions from school officials on ways to further activate the program.
The Gijigae program aims to enhance students' physical fitness and boost vitality in school life. It provides customized activities by linking instructors dispatched from the local sports association with the school's own staff. Main activities include a jump rope challenge, morning calisthenics, jogging, and sports league matches.

On this day, Superintendent Kim personally observed soccer and basketball activities held on the playground, encouraging students to start their mornings energetically. Afterwards, at a tea meeting in the career caf? on the second floor of the main building, he reviewed the program's operation status and listened to feedback from local education officials and principals.
This meeting was attended by 13 people, including officials from the Physical Education and Health Division of the Jeonnam Office of Education, the superintendent of the Mokpo Office of Education, and principals from Deokin Middle and High Schools and Hyein Girls' Middle and High Schools. They shared operational cases and discussed directions for sustainable physical education.
Superintendent Kim stated, "The Gijigae program is an important educational activity that helps students start their day energetically in connection with the local community. It greatly contributes not only to students' physical health but also to their emotional stability and satisfaction with school life." He added, "We will continue to support the program so it can be operated even more effectively by reflecting the voices from the school sites."
The Jeonnam Office of Education plans to use this on-site visit as an opportunity to provide ongoing administrative and financial support, so that healthy and enjoyable student-centered morning physical activities can become firmly established in all schools in the province.
