The Department of Counseling, Therapy, and Welfare at Silla University (President: Heo Namsik) announced on June 11 that it had successfully held the "2025 Spring Workshop."
This workshop, held in May under the theme "Artificial Intelligence and the Practice of Digital Counseling and Therapy," was organized to explore the AI-based competencies required of counseling professionals in the rapidly changing digital era, as well as the evolving direction of the counseling field.
The event was co-hosted by the Graduate School's Department of Family Therapy, Department of Family Counseling, Department of Counseling and Therapy, the Family Counseling Research Association, and the Family Counseling Center. It was attended by a large number of graduate and undergraduate students, counseling-related professors, and field experts, who engaged in active discussions on the potential for integrating AI technology with human-centered counseling.
A special lecture by Professor Jung Taemyung, Emeritus Professor at Sungkyunkwan University and CEO of HIPPO T&C, drew significant attention.
Professor Jung delivered an in-depth lecture that bridged theory and practice, covering topics such as the use of AI-based counseling platforms, real-life therapy cases utilizing chatbots and virtual reality (VR), and ethical considerations in digital counseling.
Choi Heekyung, head of the Department of Counseling, Therapy, and Welfare at Silla University, stated, "This workshop was a meaningful opportunity to broaden our understanding of digital transformation in the counseling field," and added, "We will continue to focus on creating educational and practical environments that integrate AI with psychological counseling."
Silla University plans to continue leading the way in training future-oriented counseling professionals through the integration of AI and counseling therapy.
