GRT, a company specializing in precision coating, announced on June 11 that its sales volume of high-performance materials has surged sharply over the past three years, increasing more than threefold, with an average annual growth rate exceeding 80%.
These material products are already being widely applied in the products of key clients such as Tesla, Xiaomi, Rokid, and Aito.
Based on its collaboration with Nansha Technology, GRT is expanding sales into various advanced technology fields, including foldable phone display glass, slim laminated glass and composite materials for new energy vehicles, AI smart glasses, and dedicated materials for humanoid robots.
Previously, in 2022, the two companies maintained a partnership, but sales did not exceed 100 million yuan (approximately 19 billion KRW). However, last year, sales surpassed 350 million yuan (approximately 66.6 billion KRW).
GRT explained that it has established itself as an important supplier for Nansha Technology's consumer electronics and smart automotive businesses. Nansha Technology is a leading company in the fields of AI smart glasses and humanoid robots. Its partner, Hangzhou Lingban Technology (Rokid), launched the AI smart glasses Rokid Glasses, which had already recorded more than 250,000 pre-orders by the end of June. By utilizing nano glass and lightweight technologies, they have enhanced the technical sophistication of the product. In the global market, where the product has been officially launched, sales of AI glasses are expected to grow from 2.34 million units in 2024 to 5.5 million units in 2025.
In addition, Nansha Technology has been accumulating its own technology in the humanoid robot sector since 2016. In January 2025, together with Agibot, it launched the world's first full-stack open-source robot, Lingxi X1, and supported production to exceed 1,000 units last year.
The humanoid robot market is expected to grow to over $350 billion by 2030, with China likely to account for more than half of the total. Accordingly, GRT's cooling materials, nano-processed materials, and optical materials are projected to play a significant role in various fields, including AI humanoid robots.
Last year, Nansha Technology achieved sales of 69.9 billion yuan, marking a 28.27% increase compared to the previous year. Of this, the smartphone and computer-related business accounted for 57.8 billion yuan, representing more than 80% of the total.
The smart automotive-related business recorded 6 billion yuan, growing by 18.73% year-on-year. As a long-term strategic partner, GRT is providing a range of high-performance and high-value-added core material solutions.
In terms of industrial cooperation, Nansha Technology currently holds a 15% stake in GRT's third plant, "Jiangsu Huizhi New Materials," located in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province.
This plant focuses on the research, development, and production of advanced glass composite materials and functional materials for robots. The cooperation with Nansha Technology is providing crucial support for the development and industrialization of GRT's new materials. In addition, several key projects jointly developed by the two parties have already entered the mass production stage.
Mass production is underway for variable curvature glass composite materials for next-generation foldable phones, lightweight window and dashboard structural materials for smart vehicles, AI smart glasses, slim and high-strength composite module materials for humanoid robots, and graphene thermal processing materials.
A GRT representative stated, "As the commercialization of advanced technology products progresses, the collaboration between GRT and Nansha Technology is expected to enter a new phase," adding, "Going forward, GRT will continue to focus on technological innovation as its core driver and will actively enter high-growth industries such as consumer electronics, new energy vehicles, AI smart glasses, and humanoid robots."
The representative further added, "We will continue to strengthen comprehensive strategic cooperation with Nansha Technology to enhance our competitiveness in the global market and contribute to the advancement and sophistication of China's manufacturing industry."
