Lee Sangil: "Advancing Toward Carbon Neutrality in Cooperation with Companies"
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is partnering with renewable energy companies and financial institutions to establish a one-stop support system for the expansion of RE100.
On June 11, Yongin City announced that it had signed a business agreement in the mayor's reception room on June 10 to support energy transition and RE100 implementation for local companies. The agreement ceremony was attended by renewable energy companies Unitest and Chamsolar Energy, as well as financial institutions JB Asset Management and Yuanta Securities.
On the 10th, at Yongin City Hall, Lee Sangil, mayor of Yongin (center), is holding up the agreement document together with the participating companies at the 'Corporate RE100 Support Project Business Agreement Ceremony.' Provided by Yongin City
The participating organizations will work together to increase the self-sufficiency of eco-friendly energy and build a cooperative system through renewable energy distribution projects such as solar power, aiming to help local companies achieve RE100.
The city explained that this agreement has laid the foundation for providing a one-stop service to local companies for RE100 implementation by collaborating with renewable energy specialists and financial institutions.
Under the agreement, Yongin City will provide administrative support, including identifying unused public land, to expand renewable energy distribution projects.
Unitest will be responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, and dismantling of solar power plants. Chamsolar Energy will handle marketing and lease contract arrangements for solar power projects on the roofs and unused land of companies located in local industrial complexes, as well as manage permits, provide management support, and organize power plant operators.
Yuanta Securities and JB Asset Management will provide funding, brokerage, advisory services, fund creation and management, financial consulting for participating companies, and financial support for the distribution of renewable energy.
The city plans to focus its policy efforts on expanding and supplying renewable energy to companies located in specialized industrial complexes designated for the ongoing mega-scale semiconductor industry project in Yongin.
Lee Sangil, mayor of Yongin, stated, "In Yongin, where the world's largest single-city semiconductor industry ecosystem is being established through a mega-scale project, RE100 is a crucial goal that must be achieved," adding, "If the organizations participating in the agreement continue to cooperate, we can move forward toward our goal of carbon neutrality."
