Joo Jinwoo, a member of the People Power Party, has strongly criticized the rumors circulating within the pro-government bloc regarding a potential pardon for Cho Kuk, former leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party. He emphasized that, since President Lee Jaemyung stated during the presidential election that a merger between former People Power Party candidate Kim Moonsoo and former Reform New Party candidate Lee Junseok, mediated by party leadership, would constitute a serious election crime of candidate bribery, fairness must be demonstrated.

On June 10, Joo Jinwoo posted a message on his Facebook page titled, "Whether Cho Kuk is pardoned will be the barometer of fairness for the Lee Jaemyung administration."

This post appears to have been prompted by remarks from Choi Kangwook, a close associate of former leader Cho Kuk and former Democratic Party lawmaker, who stated on his YouTube channel, "President Lee Jaemyung said that before Cho Kuk was imprisoned, he would pardon him in the shortest possible time and suggested, 'Let us join forces to save the country.' I therefore expect that a special pardon will be granted in the near future."

Joo Jinwoo stated, "Former lawmaker Choi Kangwook revealed that 'President Lee Jaemyung said he would pardon Cho Kuk in the shortest possible time before his imprisonment.' He also noted that Jung Kyungshim posted 'Deo1jjik Dasi Mannal, Cho Kuk' on social media, thereby supporting Lee Jaemyung's election campaign."

He continued, "The Cho Kuk Innovation Party did not field a presidential candidate at all. Former leader Cho Kuk inflicted great harm on young people and parents without connections through his admissions fraud. He was sentenced to two years in prison but served only six months. President Lee Jaemyung argued during the presidential election that 'if Kim Moonsoo and Lee Junseok merge their candidacies through party leadership, it constitutes the serious election crime of candidate bribery.' If a special pardon for Cho Kuk is used as a means to form an alliance with the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, isn't this, in effect, also 'candidate bribery'?"
