Partnership with Leading US Industrial Software Company for High-Reliability Applications
DeepX, an on-device artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor company, is attracting global attention. Although it has been cited as an alternative to graphics processing units (GPUs), there have been criticisms that its actual use cases are limited. However, the company plans to expand its market by broadening its applications across various fields, including space and defense.
On June 10, DeepX announced at its headquarters in Pangyo, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, that it has signed a partnership agreement with Wind River, a leading global company in the intelligent edge software sector based in the United States, to jointly develop hardware and software solutions. Wind River has developed software for over 40 years that is installed in key devices and systems in industries requiring the highest levels of reliability, such as automotive, aerospace, defense, medical, and telecommunications.

Wind River has branches in major technology hubs worldwide, including Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, and South Korea, supporting real-time system design and operation for high-reliability industries. Its flagship product, VxWorks, is used in real-time operating systems for projects such as NASA's Mars exploration missions.
The two companies have agreed to combine DeepX's AI semiconductors with Wind River's real-time operating system (RTOS) and virtualization platform, Helix, to develop solutions for industries requiring high reliability and stability, such as aerospace, defense, and robotics. They plan to jointly develop AI systems optimized for edge environments that demand high stability and real-time performance by integrating DeepX's ultra-low-power AI semiconductors with Wind River's highly reliable real-time operating system. In particular, they aim to achieve precise hardware-software integration to enable AI functionality in industrial devices where physical constraints are significant and precise, safe operation is essential. Their goal is to set a new technological standard in the next-generation edge AI market and expand into markets such as North America and Europe.
Kim Nokwon, CEO of DeepX, said, "Combining Wind River's expertise in security and real-time systems with DeepX's ultra-low-power edge AI platform will create a powerful technological synergy that can expand edge AI into areas such as aerospace and defense, where it has not yet been fully adopted."
Abhijit Sinha, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Global Business Development at Wind River, expressed high expectations, stating, "By advancing AI with DeepX's high-performance AI semiconductors and Wind River's proven edge technology, we can achieve remarkable results across a wide range of applications and industrial environments."
