Yongin City signs joint declaration
to eradicate wage arrears and illegal activities
Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 10th that it had signed the 2025 Labor-Management-Government-Civil Joint Declaration agreement to eradicate wage arrears and illegal activities at the city hall's meeting room on the 9th.

The agreement was attended by representatives from labor, management, civil society, and government, including Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin and chairman of the Yongin City Labor-Management-Government-Civil Council; Yoo Jinseon, Chairman of the City Council; Oh Gihwan, Director of the Gyeonggi Regional Employment and Labor Office; Lee Sangwon, Head of the Yongin branch of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions; Lee Taeyeol, President of the Yongin Chamber of Commerce and Industry; as well as six corporate representatives.
The joint declaration states that workers will firmly respond to illegal activities and actively cooperate to improve productivity, service quality, and establish a mutually beneficial labor-management culture. To achieve this, employers will comply with their legal obligations, respect workers' rights and interests, and strive to foster a fair corporate culture. Citizens will participate in raising awareness so that the eradication of illegal activities can take root in the local community, while the city and the Gyeonggi Regional Employment and Labor Office have agreed to cooperate in creating a fair working environment.
At the council meeting held after the agreement, participants discussed agenda items such as promoting the "Shoulder-to-Shoulder Relay Agreement" for achieving carbon neutrality and improving workers' health.
Mayor Lee stated, "If we put into practice the eradication of wage arrears and illegal activities outlined in the joint declaration, the city, businesses, workplaces, and families will all be able to prosper," adding, "The city will work to resolve issues smoothly based on communication and cooperation so that the value of labor is respected, and will strive to prevent wage arrears and illegal activities."
