Pusan National University School of Dentistry Holds 40th Anniversary Homecoming Event for First Graduating Class

"My Alma Mater Is My Pride"
A Heartfelt Reunion Across Generations
Development Fund and Encouragement Gifts Delivered

Pusan National University School of Dentistry (Dean Kim Sungshik) held the "40th Anniversary Homecoming Event for the First Graduating Class of the School of Dentistry" at the dental school on June 5.

The event was attended by members of the first graduating class of Pusan National University School of Dentistry, Dean Kim Sungshik, Kim Hyuncheol, Director of Pusan National University Dental Hospital, Cho Kyungmi, Vice President of the Alumni Association of the School of Dentistry and Graduate School of Dentistry, Kim Giwon, President of the Busan Dental Association, faculty members, and current students.


On this day, the first graduating class also donated funds for the development of their alma mater and provided support items for current students. In appreciation, the alumni association presented congratulatory gifts to the members of the first graduating class. Previously, in 2008, they had also contributed 100 million won to the development fund.


Park Youngmin, president of the first graduating class alumni association, said in a commemorative speech, "I feel proud of the development of our alma mater and the achievements of my classmates." Professors Park Bongsoo and Kim Ukkyu, both members of the first graduating class, introduced "The 46-Year History of the First Graduating Class and the Alma Mater in Photos" and delivered words of encouragement to their juniors.


After the event, the graduates toured the state-of-the-art VR practice room, the preclinical practice room, and the newly remodeled reading room, experiencing firsthand the changes in the educational and clinical environment of their alma mater.


Pusan National University School of Dentistry was established in 1981 and produced its first graduating class of 32 students in 1985. It was converted into a graduate school of dentistry in 2006 and is scheduled to revert to an undergraduate dental school curriculum starting in the 2028 academic year.
