Joint Debate and Policy Presentation to Be Held

The People Power Party will elect a new floor leader at 2 p.m. on June 16.

Park Hyungsoo, the party's chief deputy floor leader, told reporters at the National Assembly on June 9 after the first meeting of the election management committee for the floor leader election, "Candidate registration will take place this Saturday," announcing the schedule.

According to the schedule, the emergency committee chair will announce the floor leader election on June 13, candidate registration will be held on June 14, and election campaigning will take place over the weekend.

The deposit for the floor leader election has been set at 20 million won. The party will also hold a joint debate and policy presentation for the candidates.

Park said, "We will decide the format of the joint debate after seeing how many candidates there are."

Currently, those mentioned as potential candidates include Kim Gi-hyeon and Na Kyungwon, both serving their fifth terms; Kim Do-eup, Kim Sanghoon, Park Dae-chul, and Lee Heonseung, all in their fourth terms; and Kim Sungwon, Song Eon-seok, and Lim Ija, each in their third terms.
