Changwon Special City held the 2025 Environment Day ceremony at the City Hall Citizen Hall under the theme "Plastic Zero, Starting from Changwon."

The ceremony, held on June 5, was attended by Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, Son Taehwa, Chairperson of the Changwon Special City Council, co-chairs of the Changwon Sustainable Development Council (Lee Hakeun, Jeon Youngho, and Ahn Byungseok), Ha Jaeguk, Secretary General of the Gyeongnam Green Environment Support Center, and over 100 individuals including environmental awardees, students, and citizens. The participants reflected on this year's World Environment Day theme, "Ending Plastic Pollution," and pledged to take action together to protect the global environment.


The main events included a themed video screening, awarding of commendations for environmental conservation, a themed song performance, and presentations of activity cases. Before the ceremony, there was also a session where participants learned fun and practical ways to protect the environment in daily life through the enchanting appeal of magic, which received a positive response.


Notably, students from the Yongnam Elementary School environmental club, who received awards for their contributions to environmental conservation, took the stage to share their experiences with environmental protection activities at school and in the community, and proposed actions that should be maintained in the future, drawing significant attention.


Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "When the theme of today's ceremony, 'Plastic Zero, Starting from Changwon,' becomes a promise for all of us and is realized in our daily lives, Changwon will move forward as a sustainable future city. We will actively support and back efforts to spread these practices."
