83% of Gyeonggi-do Daycare Centers Participate in Children Safety Hospital Designation Project

More than 8 out of 10 daycare centers in Gyeonggi-do are currently participating in the Children Safety Hospital Designation Project.

According to Gyeonggi-do on June 8, as of the end of March this year, 6,796 daycare centers (82.6%) out of a total of 8,230 in the province had signed agreements with designated safety hospitals (549 locations). This project, which began in June last year, connects each daycare center with a medical institution on a one-to-one basis to enable a swift response in the event of an infant or toddler patient.

Gyeonggi-do and its cities and counties encourage mutual cooperation through local medical associations or daycare center federations, while hospitals and daycare centers form agreements tailored to their circumstances, covering areas such as medical support, medical fee discounts, vaccinations, and infectious disease prevention education.

Among daycare centers, there is an assessment that the project goes beyond simple emergency response, as teachers can protect children by receiving advice from partner hospitals and preemptively prevent the spread of infectious diseases during outbreaks.

Ko Hyunsook, Director of Childcare Policy at Gyeonggi-do, said, "The Children Safety Hospital Designation Project has become a trusted system for parents, childcare teachers, and medical institutions alike in less than a year since its implementation," adding, "We will continue to promote on-site childcare policies that link medical care and child-rearing."
