Kim Yongtae: "Party Convention in Early September... Audit on Presidential Candidate Replacement"

Kim Yongtae Announces Plans to Invalidate Party's Official Stance Opposing Presidential Impeachment
Press Conference Emphasizes Preparation for Party Convention and Resolving Internal Factional Conflicts

Kim Yongtae, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stated on the 8th, "We will prepare to hold the party convention by early September."

At a press conference held at the National Assembly on this day, Kim said, "Holding next year's local elections under a leadership elected by party members, rather than under an emergency response committee system, will itself become an immediate goal for the reconstruction of the conservative party and the success of the local elections."

Kim further stated, "In order to fundamentally resolve the conflict between pro-impeachment and anti-impeachment factions within the party, I will push for the invalidation of the party's official stance opposing the impeachment of the president."

He added, "If this process is successfully carried out, for the next three years, any act of hostile, harsh criticism or unreasonable distortion that causes division in official and public arenas, based on support for or opposition to the impeachment, will be regarded as a violation of party discipline."

Regarding the controversy over the change of candidate during the last presidential election, he also said, "I will exercise the right to audit party affairs to investigate the facts behind the attempt to unjustly replace the candidate and impose appropriate responsibility."
