Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization Marks 50th Anniversary with 'Arirang Festival'... President Kim Namil Vows to Lead in Preserving Traditional Culture

Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization (President Kim Namil) held the 'Gyeongbuk Arirang Festival' at Yukbuchon Square on June 5 to mark its 50th anniversary.


This festival was a cultural event where Gyeongbuk residents and tourists came together, featuring a variety of performances centered around 'Arirang,' a traditional cultural heritage of the Gyeongbuk region. The event was hosted by traditional Korean music artist Oh Jeonghae, who contributed to creating a vibrant atmosphere.

Performances included the Ulleungdo Arirang Preservation Society, the Mungyeongsaejae Arirang Preservation Society, the Yeongnam Folk Song Preservation Society, the Yeongcheon Arirang Preservation Society, and the Seonjae Children's Choir, each presenting their unique regional Arirang. The Yeongnam Traditional Korean Orchestra also received enthusiastic applause for their distinguished performance.


As side events, the Gyeongju branch of Nonghyup Bank hosted a 'Rice Cake Sharing' and 'Rice Cake Pounding Experience,' offering visitors enjoyable experiences that were especially popular among families.


In addition, prior to the festival, the organization commemorated its 50th anniversary by making a joint donation with Nonghyup Bank to Gyeongju Seongaeweon, a local child welfare facility. The donation included rice worth 1 million won, as well as ramen and daily necessities also worth 1 million won, demonstrating a warm commitment to the local community.


President Kim Namil stated, "It is very meaningful to be able to share such a significant festival with the residents in celebration of our organization's 50th anniversary," adding, "We will continue to fulfill our responsibilities as a public cultural tourism enterprise that preserves Gyeongbuk's traditional culture and coexists with the local community."


Through this event, the organization aims to shed new light on the value of traditional culture and further strengthen its identity and social responsibility as a public institution that serves the residents.
