Yecheon County Solemnly Holds 70th Memorial Day Ceremony

Honoring the Spirit of Sacrifice of Patriotic Martyrs
Over 600 Attendees Unite Across Generations in Remembrance

On June 6, Yecheon County in North Gyeongsang Province solemnly held a memorial ceremony at the Chunghon Tower in Namsan Park, Yecheon-eup, to honor the spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs and war heroes on the occasion of the 70th Memorial Day.

Yecheon County Solemnly Holds 70th Memorial Day Ceremony On June 6, Kim Hakdong, Yecheon County Governor, paid tribute and incense offerings with respect and gratitude to the patriotic martyrs and war heroes on the occasion of the 70th Memorial Day.

More than 600 people attended the event, including Kim Hakdong, Governor of Yecheon County; Kang Younggu, Chairman of the County Council; Do Giuk and Lee Hyungsik, members of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council; Lee Wonhee, Commander of the 16th Fighter Wing of the Air Force; Ahn Byungyun, Vice President for Public Affairs at Kyungpook National University; as well as heads of institutions and organizations, representatives of veterans' groups, national merit recipients and their families, and local residents.


The ceremony proceeded in the following order: salute to the national flag, singing of the national anthem, silent tribute to the patriotic martyrs and war heroes, offering of flowers and incense, and a memorial address. At 10 a.m., all participants observed a moment of silence in unison with the nationwide siren, paying their respects to the noble sacrifices made for the country.


In particular, representatives of elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as university students from Yecheon, participated in the event, reflecting on the spirit of patriotism and sharing the values of respect and remembrance across generations. The students solemnly joined in the moment of silence, honoring the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs.


In his memorial address, Kim Hakdong, Governor of Yecheon County, stated, "The peace and freedom we enjoy today are possible thanks to the noble sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs and war heroes. Let us engrave their spirit deeply in our hearts and remember their legacy for a long time to come."


Through this memorial ceremony, Yecheon County once again reaffirmed its respect and gratitude for the patriotic martyrs and war heroes, providing an opportunity for all members of the local community to unite and carry on the spirit of patriotism.
