Gijang-gun (Governor: Jung Jongbok) has successfully completed the first half of the year "Hanbang Qigong Exercise Class" for individuals at high risk of dementia.
This program, held at the Gijang-gun Public Health Center Dementia Relief Center for two months starting in April, aimed to improve physical and mental functions and slow the progression of dementia through preventive activities utilizing traditional Korean medicine.

The classes were conducted in connection with the Korean Medicine Health Promotion Project. Relevant experts, including Hanbang Qigong exercise instructors and doctors of Korean medicine, participated to provide practical health management and preventive education.
Participants experienced a variety of programs, including personalized health consultations, acupuncture treatments and stroke prevention education, qigong exercises (meditation, brain breathing, whole-body meridian exercises), dementia prevention education, and making health pills.
Gijang-gun explained, "Participant satisfaction was high, and the exercises and preventive education that can be easily practiced in daily life received particularly positive responses."
One resident who participated in the program said, "There were many exercises I could follow at home, which was very beneficial, and it greatly helped with dementia prevention."
Gijang-gun plans to operate this program in the second half of the year as well. Residents who wish to participate can apply by phone or in person at the Gijang-gun Dementia Relief Center.
