Russia Strikes Ukraine After Retaliation Threat... "632nd Child Killed"

President Zelensky: "Maximum Sanctions Must Be Imposed"

At least five people were killed and dozens injured as Russia launched airstrikes against Ukraine. This occurred after Russia expressed its intent to retaliate for Ukraine's recent drone raids.

On June 5 (local time), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on the social media platform X that six Russian military drones attacked Pryluky in Chernihiv Oblast, Ukraine, resulting in several deaths, including a family of three.

President Zelensky explained, "When a rescue worker responded to the scene, he discovered that a Shahed drone (a type of Russian suicide drone) had struck his own home. His wife, daughter, and one-year-old grandson were killed. This is the 632nd child lost since the start of the full-scale war."

Vyacheslav Chaus, Governor of Chernihiv Oblast, also told foreign media including AFP and dpa that at least five people, including the family of three, were killed and six were injured in the region. In Kharkiv, at least 18 people were reported injured as high-rise buildings and apartments were struck by Russian drone attacks.

President Zelensky condemned, "Russia is trying to buy time to continue killing. Russia kills when it feels that international criticism and pressure are not strong enough."

He added, "This is another reason to impose the maximum possible sanctions and pressure. I urge the United States, Europe, and all countries around the world to take action so that this horrific situation can truly change."

Meanwhile, on June 1, Ukraine carried out a large-scale operation by launching a drone raid on an airbase in mainland Russia, attacking dozens of strategic bombers. The Ukrainian side claimed that this operation caused billions of dollars in damages.
