Gwangju University announced on June 5 that five students from the Department of Creative Writing have signed serialization contracts with web novel content providers Enriz and Bbul Media in the first half of this year.
This contract is another piece of good news following the serialization contracts signed by eight first- and second-year students in the second half of last year. Since launching its web novel curriculum, the Department of Creative Writing has achieved notable results in the web novel field, with not only graduates but also many current students actively working as writers.
In particular, the writer "Jani," who began serializing the work "Sacheondangga Genius Oriental Doctor" on KakaoPage in August last year, is a representative example of a Gwangju University Creative Writing student who became a web novel author after gaining inspiration through novel lectures, club activities, peer reviews, and exchanges of ideas with classmates.
Jani said, "Since I am someone who was saved by stories, my top priority is always the reader," adding, "I want to continue writing stories that readers will find entertaining and want to read no matter where they are."
An Jeomok, head of the Department of Creative Writing, said, "Every year, we see new students who are captivated by web novels and aspire not just to be readers but to become writers themselves. It is a tremendous joy to watch them grow as they follow the systematic curriculum for each year. We look forward to welcoming aspiring new writers who are unafraid to take on challenges."
