Climbed Over the Wall Surrounding the Property
Arrested for Trespassing Last Year as Well
A man in his twenties was arrested for illegally trespassing at Mar-a-Lago, the Florida resort owned by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to U.S. broadcaster NBC and other outlets on June 4 (local time), Anthony Thomas Reyes, a 23-year-old man from Texas, was indicted on charges of illegally trespassing at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, the previous day.
A spokesperson for the Secret Service (SS) stated in a press release that the suspect, Reyes, jumped over a wall to enter the Mar-a-Lago property and was apprehended after an alarm was triggered. Reyes was subsequently handed over to the Palm Beach Police Department in Texas.
Reyes reportedly claimed to police that he only climbed the wall to preach the gospel to President Trump and to marry Kai, and insisted on his innocence.
Kai appears to refer to President Trump's granddaughter, the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr., Trump's eldest son. Kai, who is 18 years old this year, attracted attention during the last U.S. presidential election for assisting in President Trump’s campaign. She is currently an influencer active on social networking services (SNS) and a high school golf player.
A White House spokesperson told NBC that President Trump had been briefed on the incident.
Reyes is currently being held at Palm Beach County Jail. His bail was initially set at $1,000 (about 1.36 million won), but was raised to $50,000 (about 68 million won) after it was confirmed that he had also been arrested and indicted for trespassing at Mar-a-Lago on the last day of last year.
Meanwhile, Mar-a-Lago has been designated as a protected area under the Secret Service since the shooting incident involving President Trump at a U.S. presidential campaign rally in July last year.
