On the afternoon of June 4, the KMA held a press conference at its headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to deliver this message. Taekwoo Kim, president of the KMA, stated, "Our country is facing an unprecedented medical crisis," and called on President Lee to "make resolving the current medical crisis the highest priority of national governance above all else."

He went on to say, "The issue of medical students and residents returning to their positions is a critical matter that must be resolved as soon as possible," adding, "We hope for realistic and reasonable solutions."

He also emphasized the need to improve the training environment for residents and the educational environment for medical students. Kim stated, "Simply increasing the number of physicians will not improve the future of healthcare," and warned, "If doctors are unable to make the best decisions for their patients, the harm will ultimately fall on the public."

He further requested that sufficient discussions with expert organizations be ensured in the formulation of medical policies. Kim said, "Medical policies should not be the result of armchair discussions, but should be established and implemented by reflecting the experience and knowledge of experts who best understand the realities of the medical field." He added, "We hope to work with the government to develop medical policies that serve the best interests of the public."
