The Chungnam Provincial Council announced on June 4 that it has issued a legislative notice for a partial amendment to the "Chungcheongnam-do Distribution Industry Development and Win-Win Cooperation Support Ordinance," which was proposed by Council member Jungsik Park (Asan 3, People Power Party).

The amendment introduces a new definition of the distribution industry and adds definitions for large-scale stores and quasi-large-scale stores. It also stipulates that the governor must establish and implement an annual action plan for the development of the distribution industry. This includes a requirement to establish a concrete implementation system that covers the promotion of win-win cooperation projects and measures to contribute to the local community.

Additionally, the amendment includes measures to strengthen the transparency and accountability of the Distribution Industry Development Committee, such as limiting committee members to a single consecutive term.

Park stated, "Through this partial amendment, we aim to create a fair and sustainable ecosystem for the local distribution industry and to lay the foundation for small and medium-sized distributors to grow in competitiveness while coexisting with large distribution companies." He added, "I hope that this ordinance amendment will serve as an opportunity to invigorate the overall Chungnam economy."

The partial amendment to the Chungnam Distribution Industry Development and Win-Win Cooperation Support Ordinance, which has now been announced, is scheduled to be reviewed and voted on at the 359th regular session of the Chungnam Provincial Council, which will begin on June 10.
