Development to Focus on "Healthy Jocheong" as a Specialized Product

This project aims to encourage activities that help traditional markets, shopping districts, and alley-type shopping districts develop profit models for specialized products. The main areas of support include: ▲ development of new products ▲ revitalization of existing specialized products ▲ establishment of sales channels ▲ business promotion. Selected markets will receive 100 million won in business funding.

Tongbok Market will carry out the project by designating 'Healthy Jocheong' (a traditional rice syrup) as its specialized product. Through the support project, the market plans to secure price competitiveness for rice, the main ingredient, by purchasing directly from local farms. At the same time, to differentiate its product, it will develop jocheong that incorporates additional ingredients such as pear and aronia. The developed products will be placed in stores where jocheong can be used, such as butcher shops, cafes, and rice cake shops, to naturally promote the product to customers.

Mayor Jung Jangsun stated, "Although Tongbok Market has modern facilities and a vibrant commercial district, it has had the drawback of lacking a signature product. Going forward, we will actively support related public projects so that each market can develop its own specialized products."
