On June 4, NH NongHyup Bank announced that it has expanded the range of mobile identification services available at all branches nationwide, allowing customers to use mobile versions of the Alien Registration Card, Permanent Resident Card, and Domestic Residence Report Certificate for financial transactions.
The mobile identification has the same legal validity as physical identification cards and is issued to individuals' smartphones based on blockchain technology. It can currently be registered and used through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Mobile Identification' and the 'Samsung Wallet' applications.
NongHyup Bank was the first in the financial sector to introduce mobile driver's license authentication services in July 2022. In the second half of this year, the bank plans to introduce the mobile National Veterans Registration Card, making it available for use at all branches nationwide.
A representative from NongHyup Bank stated, "By expanding mobile identification services, customers will have greater access to financial services," and added, "We will continue to pursue digital innovation that encompasses both face-to-face and non-face-to-face channels."
