Seoul Metropolitan Council Holds Staff Proposal Contest for "Eliminating Everyday Regulations"

Ideas for Enactment or Amendment of Local Ordinances
Accepted Until July 4

The Seoul Metropolitan Council is holding its first staff proposal contest under the theme of "Suggestions for Enactment or Amendment of Laws, Ordinances, and Regulations Related to Regulatory Abolition."

This contest is part of the "Eliminating Everyday Regulations Project," which the Seoul Metropolitan Council has been promoting since the beginning of the year. As a legislative body and a local council that regularly listens to public opinion, the aim is to discover a variety of ideas from the perspective of council staff to improve unnecessary regulations affecting citizens' daily lives.

The contest runs until July 4. Submissions must be sent by email (smcminwon8282@seoul.go.kr) in the designated format. In early August, five finalists will be selected and awarded.

The selected ideas for the enactment or amendment of local ordinances will be reviewed by the relevant standing committee and promoted for institutionalization. Suggestions related to laws will be submitted to the appropriate ministries.

Choi Hojung, Chairperson of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, stated, "By leveraging the unique characteristics of a legislative institution, we will do our utmost to actively identify and eliminate unnecessary and unreasonable local ordinances and laws to reduce inconvenience for citizens." He added, "I hope this contest will be an opportunity for staff to feel both pride and responsibility in directly contributing to the daily lives of citizens."
