Gender Gap Among 2030 Generation: Overwhelming Support for Lee Jaemyung Among Women
Kim Moonsoo's Support Rises with Older Age Groups
An analysis of the exit polls conducted by the three major terrestrial broadcasters confirmed the reemergence of the 'Idaenam phenomenon.' Among voters aged 70 and older, Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party candidate, ranked first.
According to the exit polls released by the three major terrestrial broadcasters on June 3, men in their 20s and 30s exhibited different political tendencies not only from women of the same age group but also from other generations.
In particular, Lee Junseok, the Reform New Party candidate, received the highest level of support among men in their 20s, with 37.2%. The only demographic group in which Lee Junseok ranked first was men in their 20s. Kim Moonsoo followed with 36.9%, while Lee Jaemyung came in third with 24.0%.
This is the exact opposite of the voting tendencies among women in their 20s. Lee Jaemyung received strong support at 58.1%, followed by Kim Moonsoo at 25.3% and Lee Junseok at 10.3%.
Among men in their 30s, Lee Jaemyung ranked first, but his support rate according to the exit poll was 37.9%. Kim Moonsoo received 34.5%, and Lee Junseok 25.8%, indicating a narrow gap among the candidates. In contrast, among women in their 30s, Lee Jaemyung garnered 57.3%, Kim Moonsoo 31.2%, and Lee Junseok 9.3%. This shows a significant gender gap in political orientation.
However, from the subsequent age groups onward, there was no significant difference in political orientation between men and women.
Among voters in their 40s and 50s, Lee Jaemyung led with support rates ranging from the high 60% to the low 70%.
For those in their 60s, Lee Jaemyung and Kim Moonsoo received almost equal support. Among men, Lee Jaemyung had 48.6% and Kim Moonsoo 47.7%. Among women, Kim Moonsoo received 50.0% and Lee Jaemyung 47.5%.
Among voters aged 70 and older, Kim Moonsoo ranked first among both men and women, receiving 65.8% support from men and 62.6% from women. Lee Jaemyung received 31.3% from men and 36.2% from women.
The exit poll by the three major terrestrial broadcasters was conducted at 325 polling stations nationwide, surveying 80,146 voters. The survey was conducted by polling every fifth voter exiting the polling station at regular intervals to determine voting tendencies.
