Received Certificate of Appreciation from the Army Chief of Staff
Proving Competitiveness in Military-Specialized Education
Gumi University in North Gyeongsang Province was selected as the ‘Best University’ in the 2024 Army Academic Management Evaluation, organized by Army Headquarters, and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Chief of Staff of the Army.
The award ceremony was held on the 2nd in the main conference room of the Gumi University main building, attended by Kim Gihong, Vice President for Academic Affairs, as well as Army Headquarters officers in charge of ROTC agreement management. Gumi University announced on the 3rd that it received the certificate in recognition of its outstanding performance across all aspects of academic management.
This evaluation targeted universities nationwide that have signed agreements with the Army and are operating NCO programs. The criteria included overall indicators such as student recruitment and promotion, curriculum organization and commissioned training, development of the educational system, faculty recruitment, student management, and university support.
Gumi University achieved the distinction of being selected as the best university by excelling in military-specialized education, systematic academic management, and outstanding performance in training elite NCOs.
In particular, Gumi University has led the way in operating military-specialized departments, starting with an Army agreement for the Department of Special Construction Machinery in 2004. In 2010, it launched the nation’s first Emergency Medical NCO program to train medical NCOs, and in 2014, it established the Aviation Helicopter Maintenance Department to foster aviation maintenance specialists.
Lee Seunghwan, President of Gumi University, stated, “This award is the result of the dedication of all university members, our continued efforts in military-specialized education, and the capabilities of our students. Moving forward, we will further strengthen educational innovation and industry-academia cooperation to nurture talented NCOs who will be responsible for national security.”
