Kim Expresses Condolences to Victims of Sindang-dong Garment Factory Fire
Kim Moonsoo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, commented on the fire at a garment factory in Sindang-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, on June 3, which is suspected to have been caused by arson. He stated, "As a former worker who has worked in factories, I, Kim Moonsoo, will make sure to create a Republic of Korea where workers are safe and do not suffer from unpaid wages."
On his Facebook page that afternoon, Kim wrote, "There was reportedly a dispute over unpaid wages at the garment factory, and someone set the fire after pouring thinner. I pray for the repose of the deceased, and I wish a speedy recovery to those who were hospitalized with burns."

On that day, a fire suspected to be arson broke out at a garment factory in Sindang-dong, resulting in one death and five injuries. The police are investigating the exact circumstances based on witness statements that the owner, who had been in conflict with employees over unpaid wages, set the fire in a fit of anger.
Kim also expressed his deep condolences to the late Kim Chunghyun, who died in an accident at the Taean Thermal Power Plant the previous day, and to his bereaved family.
Kim emphasized, "Workplace safety cannot be overemphasized. In particular, the safety systems for small businesses and subcontracted workers remain vulnerable, so it is urgent to establish structural measures to address this issue."
