Voter Turnout Rises by 1.7 Percentage Points Compared to Previous Presidential Election

Presidential Election 10 a.m. Turnout at 13.5%...Daegu, Gyeongbuk Up, Gwangju, Jeonbuk Down Yonhap News Agency

As of 10:00 a.m. on June 3, the voter turnout for the 21st presidential election was provisionally tallied at 13.5%.


According to the website of the National Election Commission, as of 10:00 a.m. on this day, 6,003,187 out of a total of 44,391,871 eligible voters had cast their ballots.


This turnout is 1.7 percentage points higher than the turnout at the same time during the 20th presidential election in 2022 (11.8%), but 0.6 percentage points lower than the turnout during the 19th presidential election in 2017 (14.1%).


By region, Daegu recorded the highest turnout at 17.0%, while Gwangju had the lowest at 9.5%.


In the early voting held on May 29-30, Daegu had the lowest early voting rate among metropolitan municipalities at 25.63%, but is now showing a high turnout in the main vote.


In contrast, Gwangju, Jeonnam (9.9%), and Jeonbuk (9.6%), which had high early voting rates, are currently recording relatively low turnout, failing to surpass 10%.


Turnout in other regions is as follows: Seoul 12.5%, Busan 12.5%, Incheon 13.4%, Daejeon 14.5%, Gyeonggi Province 14.1%, Sejong 12.1%, Ulsan 13%, Gyeongbuk 16.1%, Gyeongnam 14.7%, Gangwon 14.3%, and Jeju 12.8%.


The turnout for early voting, overseas voting, shipboard voting, and absentee voting will be included starting from the turnout figures released at 1:00 p.m.


The turnout announced every hour on the National Election Commission's website is based on data compiled nationwide ten minutes prior to each hour.
